Money
Do you take a cut of my bookings?
No. Not on a new client, not on a returning one, not ever. Some booking apps charge a commission on every new client their marketplace sends you, typically 20 percent of that first visit. Rivo has no marketplace and takes no percentage, so your clients are yours.
What counts as a stylist?
Anyone who takes bookings, which means anyone with a column on your calendar. Receptionists, managers and assistants who do not take bookings are free, however many you have.
Do chair renters count?
Yes. If they take bookings on your calendar they are a column, the same as an employed stylist.
What if someone leaves, or I take somebody on for the summer?
Add or archive them and the bill follows automatically, pro-rata. There is no plan to upgrade and nothing to cancel.
Are the features really all included?
Yes. Online booking, payments, reports, forms, vouchers, the waitlist, the all-in-one mailbox, your own website and your salon email address: every feature, on every account. The only thing that changes your bill is how many stylists you have.
How much does it cost?
You pay per stylist who takes bookings - anyone with a column on your calendar. Every feature is included on every account, so there is nothing to upgrade to and nothing locked behind a bigger plan; the only thing that changes your bill is how many stylists you have. Receptionists, managers and assistants who do not take bookings are free. See the Pricing page for current rates. There is a free 14-day trial and no card required to start.
How do card payments work?
Payments run through RivoPay at 1.95% + 20p per transaction, the same online and on a card reader. Money is paid out to your own bank account and your salon name shows on the customer's statement. There is no commission on the booking itself.
Is there a contract or lock-in?
No lock-in. Billing is monthly and you can cancel anytime. Your data stays yours and you can export it whenever you like.
Getting started
Can I switch from another system?
Yes. You can import your client list, and we will help you move your services and settings across. Most salons are up and running the same day.
Do I need any special hardware?
No. Rivo runs in any web browser on the devices you already have, plus native iPhone and iPad apps. If you want to take card payments in person you can add a compatible card reader, but it is optional.
What happens after the 14 days?
You choose whether to stay. There is no card on file to charge, no contract and no exit fee. If you decide it is not for you, you can export your data on the way out.
Website, email and phone
Do I really get my own website and email?
Yes. A booking website goes live at yoursalon.rivo.salon and a salon email address is set up automatically when you join. Your logo, your services, your hours. Nothing to build. You can point your own domain at it later if you have one.
What does “your own phone line” actually mean?
A real number you can print on the window. Calls hit a menu you configure, ring the devices you choose while you are open, and go to a voicemail that gets transcribed when you are not. When you answer, the client's visits, patch tests and card on file are already on screen, and the call logs itself against their record.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
In most cases yes. Tell us the number when you sign up and we will check whether it can move across. If it cannot, we will set up a dedicated Rivo number for you instead. Either way, calls and texts land in one inbox.
What is included in the SMS allowance?
Your monthly text allowance is worked out per stylist who takes bookings and pooled across the salon: at 100 texts a stylist, a one-chair salon gets 100 a month and a five-chair salon gets 500. Email confirmations and reminders are unlimited and free. If you send more texts than your allowance you can buy a top-up pack or turn on auto top-up, and you are never charged without asking.
Your data
Where is my data stored, and is it GDPR-compliant?
Your data is stored securely in the UK and EU and is GDPR-friendly. Payments are handled by our secure payment provider and card numbers are never stored by us. See our Security and Trust page and Privacy Policy for the detail.
Who can see my client list?
You and the staff you give access to. Each salon's data is isolated at the database level, not just in the interface, and contact details can be masked from staff who do not need them, with any reveal recorded.
The cheapest way to find out is to try it
Free for 14 days, and it does not ask for a card.
